The much awaited India’s ultra low cost Aakash tablet is finally available at a price of Rs.2500. And you can buy it online with cash on delivery option. The tablet is jointly developed by London based company Datawind, and IIT (Rajasthan) and manufactured by India Based Company Quad.
The Aakash tablet runs on Android 2.2 Froyo and features Arm11 – 366Mhz Processor, 256 MB RAM, HD video processor, 2 Standard USB Port and supports 2GB to 32 GB external Storage. It has a Multi-touch resistive touch screen. The tablet also features Wi-Fi Connectivity.
Features, Pros and Cons of Aakash
1. Aakash Tablet features Resistive touch screen which will not be able to give you the feather touch response which is available in higher end tablets and smart phones with capacitive touch screens. But the company is working towards developing economic capacitive touch screens for the tablet.
2. The 256 MB RAM doesn’t sound pretty good, but since this tablet is aimed for education this may be enough at this time.
3. The 7 x 3.5 inch display has a 800×480 Resolution.
4. It has no In-Built Camera
5. At this version, there is no GPRS Connectivity and No 3G
6. At Present there is no SIM Facility for Mobile Phone Functionality
7. Videos can be played directly from Pen Drives
8. Battery Backup is estimated to be 3 Hours
9. Apps in the Tablet include, Web browser, calculator, converter, calendar, clock, Facebook, Email, Picture viewers, Spread-sheets, Presentations, Database Features, Texts and more.
10. The tablet is basically designed for Education and it would be a good choice for students.
