Google’s Blogger gets country specific URL scheme

Blogger-becomes-Country-specific-with--Country-Code-Top-Level-Domain-redirect

Well, if you are a blogger in blogspot.com, then you would have noticed that some changes have been made in the URL scheme.

Your blogger blog no longer has a .com domain instead it has become country specific. For example techfrost.blogspot.com when viewed from India becomes techfrost.blogspot.in

How and Why?

The blogspot blogs will be redirected to a Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) depending on the location of the reader. This allows Google to censor contents for a specific country and it will be easy to implement country-specific rules and regulations

Impact on Search Engine Optimization

Although blog owners should not see any visible differences in their blogs, there may be some impact on Search Engine Optimization.  Hosting duplicate content on different domains can affect search results, but effort  are taken to minimize any negative consequences of hosting Blogspot content on multiple domains.
