Android 5.0 Lollipop launched with new features and new UI
Its official, after an extended period of testing Google has finally announced its next version of Android and it is called as Android 5.0 Lollipop or simply Android L.
This new operating system will be available on the new Nexus devices Nexus 6 Smartphone, Nexus 9 Tablet and Nexus Player Streaming Media Device. Android 5.0 Lollipop will also be available on the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and Google Play Edition devices in the coming weeks.
Android 5.0 Lollipop come with a brand new device built on the principles of Material Design. The interface will feature brighter colors and smoother animations. The operating system will fit on Mobiles, tablets, wearable and also in car displays. This video will explain what exactly material design is.
Android 5.0 Lollipop will feature new ways to control on how we receive messages, view and respond to messages directly from the lock screen. Control the notifications triggered by your apps; hide sensitive content and prioritize or turn off the app’s notifications entirely . It also features more intelligent ranking of notifications based on who they’re from and the type of communication
Android L will have a battery saver feature which extends device use by up to 90 mins , and estimated time left to fully charge is displayed when your device is plugged in and also estimated time left on your device before you need to charge again can now be found in battery settings.
In Android 5.0 encryption will be automatically turned on by default and this will help protect data on lost or stolen devices. There will be better protection against vulnerabilities and malware as SELinux is enforced for all applications. The new OS will also feature Smart Lock using which you can pair your device with a trusted device like your wearable or even your car.
It will be easier to share your device with your friends and family with the guest user option. You can also access your phone by simply logging into another device running Android Lollipop.
Runtime and Performance
ART, an entirely new Android runtime, improves application performance and responsiveness, it is expected to get 4x performance improvements and Smoother UI for complex, visually rich applications
Even if your screen is off, you can say “OK Google” on devices with digital signal processing support such as Nexus 6 and Nexus 9
